mAMA act INITIATIVE

Mama ACT Initiative is a myriad of community activities geared towards building the SOCIO-ECONOMIC capability of young community women married at a very tender age especially the victims of "give away communal wives tradition".Kenya like in any other part of some African countries, young women are looking for leaders they can emulate. Unfortunately, a woman role often been assumed to be the roles of a home care taker negating what really constitutes a women roles in society.

Youth in Kenya have left out the most important aspect of young women(MARRIED BUT YOUNG) in the entire process of development. Once married, these young women find it hard to spring back or actively participate in both local and national development processes. The condition and community marriage laws and traditions makes it even harder for them to be agents of change in society.Their efforts are thwarted, with no resources nothing can be forthcoming from these young women.

The biggest challenge then comes from the in ability to depend upon herself economically. These women should have something in their hands ongoing to empower themselves economically. When the entire home can look for help from them at any point in time, then this will bring out the first step to alleviating their plight; Self-leadership.

Mama ACT I nitiative would want to raise their voice and spring them to action but on the other hand creating a sustainable course of action. These young women in long run would speak, speak, speak and act and will never be shut down by husband dependency syndrome.

This initiative cycle will be as follows:

Enlightenment/Action -Micro enterprise/Action -Endowment building/Action

The face one of this initiative will target 100 young women from within the Kisumu County , Western Part of Kenya. Before we can inspire them to stand out, we shall give them a base-a strong foundation to stand on.

Giving these young women an opportunity to unleash their potential is our ultimate goal- an empowered young village woman(village woman) participating in both local and national development processes.

We are looking for people out there who would wish to dedicate their time and or resources to make this a success.

1.Those who can volunteer to offer psych-social support through one on one counselling.

2.Those who can volunteer to to give skype advisory on how best this initiative can go.

3. Any material donation on health, enterprinuership car rental services etc

4.Financial donation to support a woman start a micro-enterprise. One woman would need at least 100$ to start up a small busines. These businesses will be call ACT units. These units will be empowered to build up and Endowment Health Fund that will sustain their health service delivery. They will be requred to to contribute 10% of their profit to buliding this Edowment Health Fund.
